Implement the HMI and PLC software for units to manage pallet transitions between basic care and medium care zones. This includes handling pallet entry/cleaning/treatment and the return of empty pallets, communication with a corporate OT network, OPC UA for interfacing PLC with different equipment.
What Control Automation Solutions developed
A single PLC control system based on TIA Portal V18 integrated with two AGVs for transport, ABB robotic arm and two HMI panels for control, status monitoring and troubleshooting. The software architecture follows the S88 principle, utilizing a top-down internal communication structure where the Unit level manages underlying Equipment and Control modules (including UVC lights, air blade, and robot controls). The logic is based on a standardized PackML State Machine (Idle, Running, Paused, etc.). This ensures that when a safety reset occurs, the machine doesn't just "jump" back to work but follows a controlled Restarting sequence.
What Control Automation Solutions delivered
A standardized technical framework that allows for the full implementation of software to automate pallet detection, door cycles, and cleaning processes (UVC and air blade) while providing clear diagnostic tools for service technicians. Our company also provided the customer with software library that includes typical functional blocks and HMI objects (such as custom icons, faceplates for analog and digital sensors, motors, analog and digital valves, PID controllers, PLC inputs and outputs, alarms and interlock blocks, etc. ) and could be reused in other projects. The system has been commissioned, validated and handed to the customer. Control Automation Solutions has organized and carried out different workshops for future users (such as operators, technical service, etc.)
